Désir

Publication par Halte Books

2025

Désir explores the margins, the paths that people’s footsteps gradually create, again and again, always in the same place. By documenting a motif as ordinary and discreet as desire paths, Adrien Vargoz invites us to reflect on urban planning and the everyday use of cities built by and for humans. Like an escape towards the periphery, Désir begins at the heart of the city and gradually moves away from concrete and asphalt, eventually reaching somewhere else.

Still life

Publication par Halte Books

2024

~

Still Life is an encounter between an artist and a beech branch, however ordinary it may be. Through the act of travelling to visit it, followed by a process of preservation, the artist establishes a connection that goes beyond the simple act of paying tribute, entering instead into a relationship of care with nature. This minimal gesture runs counter to an anthropocentric approach based on a utilitarian or functional relationship with the environment. Through this small gesture, Adrien Vargoz preserves, captures and crystallises a moment that one might wish could last forever. Still Life is a way of questioning the notion of stability and the ordering of nature, which, through images and gestures, attempts in vain to stabilise what cannot be made stable. Time unfolds around the branch, and although Still Life is a photography book, it is above all concerned with being, with something that remains alive, bearing witness to the persistence of nature until it is threatened.

Le tremblant

Autoédition

2025

~

Le Tremblant is a journey through a landscape without contours, a peat bog where the earth seems to float and water rises beneath every step. Here, nothing ever truly settles. The landscape reveals itself less as a space to be traversed than as an unstable matter, between earth and water, surface and depth, presence and disappearance.
