Still Life

2018-2024

Neuf Photographies couleur, dimensions variables.

In the final days of 2018, a dead branch is photographed in the forest of Rustrel (Vaucluse). White as a bone, the beech branch is curved and has no bark. A few days later, the branch is gone. It is found broken, its two pieces several metres from where it was first seen and photographed.

The two pieces are transported to Arles (Bouches du Rhône), first to a studio to be photographed again, then to a cabinetmaker, who is asked to repair the damage. The branch is then transported to Lhuis (Ain), where a clay mould is made, along with a replica in resin and plaster. The branch is photographed again in front of the workshop before being returned to the site of the first photograph.

It is photographed again several times over the following months. In November 2021, the branch remains nowhere to be found, and a final photograph is taken.
